LoCash Cowboys Have 'Magical' Opry Debut

The LoCash Cowboys enjoy taking the stage every night, but last weekend's performance schedule included something extra special. The duo, comprised of Preston Brust and Chris Lucas, made their long-awaited debut on the Grand Ole Opry.

"When I was just starting my music career, my father and I had the opportunity to go out on the Opry stage after a show, and I took his photo in the circle," Preston explains (quote via Nashville Country Club). "When he offered to have my picture taken there, I stepped forward but quickly stopped in my tracks and thought to myself, 'No, your time will come. You have to earn the right to stand there.' After eight years of hard work, it happened tonight and it was every bit as magical as I had hoped."

"This is like winning the Super Bowl," Chris adds. "We've dreamed about this for a long time. The emotion is overwhelming."

The guys may be enjoying success of their own, but it's a song they wrote for another album -- 'You're Gonna Fly,' on Keith Urban's 'Get Closer' -- that has them talking.

"It's about a girl who might be coming out of a broken relationship and a tough time in her life and have a little broken wing, but she's gonna fly with me ... if she gives me the chance," Preston tells The Boot. "It's an uplifting love story, and three rookie writers came up with it, and we wrote it in about an hour. It came out and it just clicked. It's our first cut!"

"What a good way to start," Chris chimes in. "How are we gonna top that one, huh? We're retiring, we're done!"

The pair will spend most of the summer on the road. See their entire schedule here.

I don't normally watch shows at bars. I usually sit at the bar or listen from the smoking garden. These guys sound awesome, have some great origionals, and are FUN to watch!! I have seen them a number of times and I have enjoyed the "show" every time. Keep it up guys, you'll make it big.

Saw them. Good backstage laughing material. Especially those Pet Townsend air guitar moves from the mandolin player. If they don't learn how to manage all that prancing around the stage though, someone's gonna get hurt smacking into each other. As for the music, meh. Same ole recycled pop with no soul. Complete utter junk. Sure the crowd screams and yells. But so what. It's all the illegal download crowd that'll move on to the next flavor of the year.

Saw them. What a joke. Especially that air guitar mandolin player. Pete Townsend moves on a mando. Good backstage comedy though.
