President Obama Participates in CMT 'Music Builds' Relief Concert

Charles Dharapak, AP

President Obama is one of many profile celebrity figures who will offer a special call-to-action message during tonight's (May 12) 'Music Builds: The CMT Disaster Relief Concert,' which will air live from Nashville at 9:00 PM ET/PT on CMT, and will be simulcast on CMT.com.

Big & Rich's Big Kenny, actress Courtney Cox, TV host Ellen DeGeneres, actress Nicole Kidman and University of Alabama football coach Nick Saban will all appear in the 90-minute all-star concert special. Country superstars Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift will also provide messages of outreach towards those affected by the devastating tornadoes.

Country music icon Hank Williams Jr. originally approached CMT with the idea of the relief concert. The singer has a personal connection with the state of Alabama, which was hit the hardest by tornadoes last month.

"I just couldn't believe what I was seeing on TV," Hank says about the destruction. "Alabama is home -- I am really pumped about helping. I want to raise lot of money, and thanks to my good friends, we are going to be able to make a difference."

Previously announced performers include Alabama, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw, Sara Evans, Ronnie Dunn, Trace Adkins, Little Big Town, Alan Jackson, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Gretchen Wilson and Hank. All money raised will benefit the American Red Cross disaster relief efforts. ESPN reporter Erin Andrews, HLN anchor Robin Meade and comedian Ron White will serve as co-hosts for special.

CMT One Country, the network's pro-social initiative, encourages viewers to support those affected by the storms by visiting the American Red Cross website, calling 1-800-RED CROSS or texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

Obama's not interested in helping anyone. He's only there to campaign. 'He's taken to the road, airwaves, and media"? How about staying in Washington where his job is to help the whole country.

Neither CMT or Nashville should allow this man to appear on anything they produce, he turned his back on Nashville during their historic flood last year, just like he said NO to Texas and their wild fires this year, he is not OF the people, FOR the people and BY the people, he is for WHO voted FOR HIM ONLY
