"I think this is the longest time, during my recording career, without anything new on the radio," George says. "It's good to be back and I want to thank country radio for their continued support. Have a great summer!"
The song, which was written by George's son, Bubba, and hit tunesmith Dean Dillon ('Ocean Front Property,' 'The Chair'), is already appearing to be one of the Texan's biggest hits. Roaring on to the charts at No. 29, the new tune marks King George's highest debut since his award-winning hit, 'I Saw God Today.'
The Country Music Hall of Fame member, whose legendary career boasts 57 No. 1 singles, continues to maintain his record of having more chart-topping hits than any other artist of any genre. He also holds the distinction of having more RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) platinum certifications than any country artist in history.
The avid golfer isn't spending all his time in the recording studio, however. He recently purchased, along with his business partner Tom Cusick, the Tapatio Springs Golf Resort and Conference Center in Boerne, Texas, where he hopes to spend some of his free time practicing his swing. "I have lived near Boerne," the superstar explains, "and over the years Tom and I watched what was happening at Tapatio Springs. We always believed it could be a real jewel. When the opportunity came up, we decided to go for it and make this dream come true. This may not be 'ocean front property.' But it's the next best thing."
'Here for a Good Time' is the first single from George's upcoming, as-yet-untitled album, which is scheduled for a fall release.
