"There's a couple things juggling in the air for the fall," the Louisiana native reveals to Billboard magazine. "The tough part for me is I have tons of scripts and tons of offers, but I only have a short window to work in, so I have to find something I like, first, and then I have to find out if it's going to be shot in the time I have -- and if they even want me for the part. It's not like I can just pick a part and it's mine. I still have to go out and win it, so things have to line up in order for me to do a movie."
Things definitely lined up for him with his upcoming flick, 'Dirty Girl,' which features a star-studded cast including Milla Jovovich, Mary Steenburgen, Juno Temple and William H. Macy. Tim's role in the flick, which is minor compared to his leading man status in 'Country Strong,' is still just as important, he notes.
"[It's small but ... very pivotal," acknowledges the father of three. "I can't really say [what it is] because it'll give away too much of the story. But it's a really good movie. It's funny. It's got a lot of heart. It can make you laugh and cry."
The 44-year-old admits facing extra challenges when taking on a new acting gig. "It's tough enough to be in a film and not have everybody look and say, 'That's Tim McGraw,'" he tells The Boot. "So it's hard to hide and find a character that way, and then to put yourself in your own world, it's tougher to hide behind a character."
'Dirty Girl,' which debuted at last year's Toronto International Film Festival, is expected to hit theaters nationwide this August. Meanwhile, Tim will fill his time by crossing the country on his Emotional Traffic tour, which includes Luke Bryan and the Band Perry. Keep track of his concert schedule here.
