Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott Shares Wedding Plans

Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott was all smiles and giggles when the country darling and her bandmates gave an interview to KMPS Radio's Candy + Potter morning show yesterday, and why not? She recently got engaged to fellow musician Chris Tyrell. With Lady A's album 'Own the Night' coming out on September 13 and the nuptial planning underway, she's a happy, busy little bee.

So, the ladies want to know, what sort of "tacky" traditions will -- or won't -- Hillary allow at her wedding? Will she take a Southern-style, bride only engagement photo? "No way," she vows. "I don't want to wear my dress hours upon hours, months before I get married. I want to wear my dress on my wedding day!"

Will she do the money dance? "No way," she says. The only money this bride will sway her hips to is a concert ticket.

What about the groom removing the garter? "Hot!" the trio's Dave Haywood chimes in. "I do think it's a fun tradition," Hillary concedes. "I'll definitely throw the bouquet and do the garter."

And there you have it. Some on-the-fly wedding decisions for Lady A's leading lady!

The trio are in the middle of their summer headlining tour promoting their upcoming album, while Hillary's hubby-to-be Chris is on the Brad Paisley H2O II tour, drumming for opening act Eden's Edge. How delightfully hectic.

Since this singer is worth $$$, she does not NEED to do a "bridal dance." That custom originated with less well-heeled brides without a dowry or without funds for the honeymoon trip.

Just as the bridal (and, later, baby) shower originated with a girl who didn't have a dowry to attract a husband as a means of supplying her "first year's" houshold linens and supplies, so the bridal dance was a means of further supplying the moneys necessary for the starting up of a household.

I notice she didn't mention the "tackiest" of all the traditions: the charivari (also spelled shivaree/chivaree). That's the custom of the unmarried friends of the couple making a horrid racket with pots, pans, musical instruments, and gunfire outside the couple's bedroom on their bridal night. Hopefully, she won't have to endure that, either.

WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS ARE BOTH PREHISTORIC RITUALS INVENTED BY PEOPLE THAT BELIEVED IN GHOSTS AND SPIRITS. THEY ARE KEPT ALIVE TODAY BY GREEDY JEWS THAT WANT TO TAKE YOUR MONEY ~!

I was hoping to see that she will do way with the "smash cake in the face" routine. It's distasteful and low class.

There's a video clip on Youtube where that ends in the disaster of the bride or groom falling toward the cake table, upsetting the table, cake, plates, and all.

Hillary Scott is one of the sweetest and nicest gals in the business today.
Besides she is beautiful and such a lovely voice and seems so humble and such a lovely person. I am so happy for her. Love Lady Antebellum. Anne G. NY
