"I don't know if taking a chance is the right word, but to be honest with you it was a little bit of a risk to play Meadowlands Stadium," Kenny tells USA Today. "But my whole touring life has been a risk. One day I said, 'I want to be able to say I played the New York-New Jersey area and I did it in a football stadium.' We almost did it two years ago, and so now I felt like the time was right. I'm glad I was right."
'The Boys of Fall' singer is a familiar face around the NFL. In addition to his close friendship with Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning -- who has surprised fans on stage at Kenny's shows a time or two, the country superstar once suited up as a free agent for a New Orleans Saints practice. Two years later, he celebrated alongside the Saints with a performance at their post-Super Bowl victory party. And when he's not on the road, you can sometimes catch Kenny in the stands of Nashville's LP Field, where his hometown Tennessee Titans play.
