"We're excited about the way the country music community has welcomed our project," shares
Donald Teague, co-executive producer of the film, which is being filmed in San Antonio and Austin, Texas. "Randy Travis is such a legend and talent, and a super great guy, and we have more exciting attachments coming shortly."
Rodney's cameo role marks the acting debut for the 'Farmer's Daughter' singer, while Randy returns to the big screen after his most recent notable cameo in the 2007 blockbuster, 'National Treasure: Book of Secrets.' The legendary singer also appears in the just-released movie 'Jerusalem Countdown.'
Aside from his acting career, Randy is celebrating 25 years as a successful recording artist. The singer recently released 'Anniversary Celebration,' a duets album featuring collaborations with Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood and the Zac Brown Band, among others. On his career milestone, Randy tells The Boot, "I just wanted to make a living in the business singing and writing. I didn't really have any dreams. I'm sure you've interviewed people who tell you clear cut plans, years at a time maybe. I didn't have any of that. I just wanted to be singing and writing. Right here and now, I still don't make far off plans. I take it a day at a time."
'16 South' is currently in production with a summer 2012 anticipated release date. Click here to learn more about the project.
