Taylor Swift Plays Along With Ellen DeGeneres

Thanks to some awkward, inappropriate questions, daytime TV host Ellen DeGeneres had Taylor Swift shifting in the interview chair and gazing around the room in disbelief. But it was all in good, laugh-out-loud fun. Taylor was a guest on Ellen's second show of the new fall season and hung out with her "protegee" backstage in the superstar's dressing room at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where Taylor was getting prepared to take the stage.

Getting warmed up by doing a few (weird) vocal exercises, the funny woman presented Taylor with a few things she felt the dressing room could use, including a hammock and an ice sculpture of a swan.

Next, the pair took the empty Staples Center stage so that Taylor could rehearse her version of the Jason Mraz tune, 'I'm Yours,' with Ellen showing off her "skills" on a variety of musical instruments, including triangle, washboard and cymbals. "Play more instruments," Ellen advised the award-winning entertainer. "Have you seen Wayne Newton? Mr. Entertainment. He never puts an instrument down."

Back in the dressing room, Ellen pointed to a portrait of Taylor saying, "Well, look at you," as they began their "serious" interview.

Ellen: Finish this sentence: "I am Taylor Swift and I am dating ... "

Taylor: Nobody. [After a pause] It's true, though. You're looking at me like it's not.

Ellen: "I am Taylor Swift and I'd like to be dating ... "

Taylor: Nobody.

Ellen: "The last person I kissed was ... "

Taylor: I think an 8-year-old kid in the audience last night.

Ellen: That is gross! You are disgusting!

Ellen also asked Taylor how often she washes her hair (prompting an answer that sounded more like the solution to a math problem), how long she spent in prison (oops, wrong celebrity!) and then allowed the singer to turn the tables and ask her anything she wanted -- although the question Taylor asked caused the TV host to storm off and scream "STOP TALKING!"

All was obviously forgiven as later Ellen surprised the concert crowd by magically appearing on stage for a down-home jam on 'Our Song.'

Taylor will entertain her hometown crowd this weekend as her Speak Now world tour stops in Nashville. Keep track of her tour schedule here.

Taylor is the exception to every rule...and I love it. She'll go down in history as one of the most influentual people of this century and one of the greatest songwriters ever, and she's just begun.
