Dixie Chicks Reunite for Texas Wildfire Relief Concert

Matt Sayles, AP

The Dixie Chicks will reunite for a one-night, all-star concert to raise funds for the victims of the Central Texas wildfires. Fire Relief: The Concert for Central Texas will take place Oct, 17 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin.

Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett and Asleep at the Wheel have also joined the bill. Kyle Chandler, the Emmy-winning star of 'Friday Night Lights,' will host.

The summer fires reportedly destroyed more homes than any wildfire in Texas history, swallowing 34,000 acres of land and more than 1,500 homes. All of the concert's proceeds will go towards the Central Texas Wildfire Fund at the Austin Community Foundation, which will aid those who suffered an estimated $250 million in damages.

The October event will also feature guest appearances by Shawn Colvin, Steve Miller and, of course, the Court Yard Hounds (two-thirds of the Dixie Chicks). Buy your tickets here.

I will always ALWAYS support the DC. It's a darn shame especially since Bush is the one that created this mess the country is in which conveniently is being placed on Obama. She spoke her mind and got crucified for it. Tsk Tsk ... I for one wished I didnt live in a conservative redneck state but choose to stay her to ruffle the feathers of the republicans!!!!

Of course how dare they exercise their first amendement rights and denigrate the worst buffoon to ever blacken the office of President of the United States. He should be thankful that he isn't spending his days in prison.

I wonder why it is that men can't stand women with opinions? If Natalie were a man she'd be considered "cool" but because she's a woman men call her all kinds of names - "bitch" being in the lead. Men's hatred toward opinionated women must be a genetic thing they are all born with.

This is more for charity than any type of career boost, much in the same way LIVE AID and USA FOR AFRICA was for charity.
Whatever you may feel about the Dixie Chicks and their viewpoint ,keep in mind that what they are doing now is for those who lost their lives and livelihood in the Texas storms.
The girls have not lost sight of what's important in this country.
Many of us who SAY we embrace family values apparently have.

Something to sleep on.

Much love to the state of Texas,
from the Windy City.

Welcome Mr. Robb

love them Chicks! Always have and always will, because they are so far removed from that slackjaw hilbilly low IQ culture typically associated with country music.

I will have nothing to do with ms maines, by this I mean I will not buy any thing
with strings attached to her, that goes to her pockets. I love Texas and I'm so
proud to be a USA citizen. ms maines has every right to her opinion and I have
every right to mine. I support the TROOPS,,, a BIG THANK YOU to them and their
LOVED ONES. "GOD BLESS OUR MILITARY"
