The 52-year-old country legend was halfway through performing his classic hit, 'Three Wooden Crosses,' for the Crystal Heart Gala, an annual benefit for the Huguley Memorial Medical Center, when he began to feel woozy. "My vocal cords are giving out on me," Randy told the audience (quote via AceShowBiz). According to several concert-goers, the singer's legs gave out from underneath, and he fell onto the front of the stage.
"Mr. Travis had been struggling with laryngitis that resulted from chronic allergies and had taken multiple over-the-counter allergy medicines," physicians Jeff Beeson and Steve Davis told E! News after checking the country star's vital signs. "During the performance, Mr. Travis was overcome by a combination of dehydration, over-the-counter allergy medications, and caffeine use."
Randy's cocktail of meds and the Texas heat were what reportedly caused him to lose consciousness. After coming-to, he got up on his own and gave a grin and a thumbs-up to the crowd. Randy's management has since confirmed that he will continue his 25th anniversary tour without yielding. But before he hits the road again on Oct. 1, he'll be putting his feet up for a few days.
