Steel Magnolia's Joshua Scott Jones Enters Rehab

Jeff Kravitz, FilmMagic

Steel Magnolia has unexpectedly become a solo act for several shows, after one-half of the duo, Joshua Scott Jones, entered a rehab center to deal with substance abuse issues.

"God has been on my heart to announce and make public that I have entered a rehabilitation and treatment facility to address issues related to alcohol and substance abuse," he shares on the band's website. "Hundreds of thousands of people in the world struggle with these battles daily, therefore I am sincerely grateful for all thoughts and prayers at this very poignant juncture in my life and career. I would also like to thank my family, friends, record label and management team for being so supportive and having an active hand in my recovery process. Thank you and God bless."

Joshua's singing partner and fiancé Meghan Linsey announced last week that they would be canceling a handful of shows because Joshua would be unable to perform, but did not give an explanation. She has since continued to perform their scheduled dates by herself.

The former 'Can You Duet' winners released their fourth single from their self-titled debut album, 'Bulletproof,' last month, which could prove inspirational for Joshua as he continues in his recovery. "People who are going through all kinds of hard times are finding inspiration in this song," Meghan tells The Boot. "Everyone has their own take on it."

No word yet on when Joshua will resume touring. Steel Magnolia are scheduled to start touring with Reba next week.

I am shocked at the negative tone of some of these comments. The reason we wish him luck maybe due to the fact he seems to be a great person who got caught up in the whirlwind of the life on the road. No one can prejudge and say he had a problem before he became a star, because you do not know his life. The point is he admitted he had a problem to the WHOLE WOLD, and he has taken the steps recovering his addiction. No, it is not a sickness that goes away overnight or with medicine; unfortunately, he will have to work at this for the rest of his life. The point is he is trying, and that is more than some people can say. Someone might use his story as a step of empowerment to defeat the battle of their addiction. It does not matter if you are an "Average Joe" or someone like Josh no one should be looked down upon because they admit their mistakes and are willing to get help. I would wish anyone all the best and God Speed kicking the habit of drug and alcohol abuse. We should all be supportive of one another, because you never know when your stand on an almighty hill might crumble out for underneath you. Thank God that you are blessed not to have to deal with that battle, and be a positive encouragement for those who are struggling. Steel Magnolia is an AMAZING duo with a very unique sound, and I wish them all the best. God bless, and take it day by day.

Why do we wish the best of luck and support, when famous people who can "Afford" to, check themselves into a rehabilitation and treatment facility.
The average Joe is looked down upon as an alcoholic, coke-head, rock-monster,
tension-queen or whatever. Even if he chooses to change.
True recovery can and will be a long and continuing process,
not just an oil change and tune up in a revolving door facility.

Why do some people feel the need to be so nasty. Especially to/about people they know nothing about? What is missing in your own life that makes you feel better being rude/mean/nasty about/to someone you dont even know? This story wasn't about their fame or lack thereof, nor about the mans looks. This was about addiction that touches EVERYONEs family in some way or another. Remember, if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all. God Bless Joshua Scott on your recovery process.

Josh did the right thing and now it's left up to him as to which course he will follow in his future life. We all pray that it will be one to propell him to greater heights with his given talents.

Just another person who has a little bit of success and then can't seem to hold their life together without Drugs or alcohol. What the hell is wrong with people??

Actually I suspect that he had the "substance abuse problem" before he actually tasted a little success; but when he started tasting a little cash, that's when the problem got out of control. That's usually the way it works by the way...
