Chris Lucas and Preston Brust, the country duo known as LoCash Cowboys, are mourning the loss of one of their band members. Fiddle player Ryan "Troop" Jones passed away from complications from pneumonia.

"Today is a sad day in the Locash World," the band tweeted yesterday (October 19). "We lost Ryan "Troop" Jones...our Brother & our Best Friend. Our thoughts & prayers go out to his family. TROOP WILL LIVE FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS"

The multi-instrumentalist, who also played guitar and mandolin. started playing with the band six years ago, but came off the road in July due to a stomach ulcer, which led to pneumonia. Prior to performing with LoCash Cowboys, Jones had played with Brian McComas, Wade Hayes and Jeff Carson.

Funeral services are still pending.

The LoCash Cowboys are working on their sophomore album, 'This Is How We Do It,' on R&J Records. The pair also co-wrote Keith Urban's current single, 'You Gonna Fly.'

My heart is broken. I worked with Ryan briefly about 10 yrs ago up in Central NY. He was a prodigy, a musical genius as well as a deeply religious and honorable young man. In my humble opinion the music world has lost what could easily have been one of our brightest stars. I am deeply saddened by news of his death. C.R. Stewart, Auburn NY
