On Saturday, the country-pop superstar teamed with Jim Adkins, lead singer of the alt-rock foursome Jimmy Eat World, for a version of that band's 2002 smash 'The Middle.' In the YouTube clip below, Taylor can be seen bashing out the chords on a red Les Paul guitar, trading verses on the life-affirming tune.
"Thank you to Jim Adkins for rocking 'The Middle' with us in Phoenix!!!" Taylor tweeted after the show. "I'm such a huge fan, that was unbelievable."
She's also a fan of Jordin Sparks, as was evidenced by her rendition of the 'American Idol' winner's 'No Parade.'
"This song wasn't a single, but it's my favorite she's ever done," Taylor told the crowd, prefacing the gentle acoustic ballad.
If Jordin and Jimmy Eat World represented slight stylistic stretches, Taylor veered back toward her comfort zone with a cover of country-dabbling singer-songwriter Michelle Branch's 'All You Wanted.'
Arizona fans were also treated to a collaboration between Taylor and Jon Foreman, singer of the San Diego group Switchfoot. Taylor had performed the band's 'Dare You to Move' the night before in California, and this time, they joined forces for 'Meant to Live.'
"Look at this crowd," the perpetually sunny Taylor said to Jon, who'd stopped by despite having a Switchfoot gig booked for later in the evening. "How beautiful is this?"
"This is a good rock 'n' roll moment," he said.
