Taylor Swift Covers Jimmy Eat World, Michelle Branch + More

Continuing her trend of playing city-appropriate covers on each stop of her Speak Now World Tour, Taylor Swift payed homage to three very different Arizona acts during this weekend's pair of Phoenix gigs.

On Saturday, the country-pop superstar teamed with Jim Adkins, lead singer of the alt-rock foursome Jimmy Eat World, for a version of that band's 2002 smash 'The Middle.' In the YouTube clip below, Taylor can be seen bashing out the chords on a red Les Paul guitar, trading verses on the life-affirming tune.

"Thank you to Jim Adkins for rocking 'The Middle' with us in Phoenix!!!" Taylor tweeted after the show. "I'm such a huge fan, that was unbelievable."

She's also a fan of Jordin Sparks, as was evidenced by her rendition of the 'American Idol' winner's 'No Parade.'

"This song wasn't a single, but it's my favorite she's ever done," Taylor told the crowd, prefacing the gentle acoustic ballad.

If Jordin and Jimmy Eat World represented slight stylistic stretches, Taylor veered back toward her comfort zone with a cover of country-dabbling singer-songwriter Michelle Branch's 'All You Wanted.'

Arizona fans were also treated to a collaboration between Taylor and Jon Foreman, singer of the San Diego group Switchfoot. Taylor had performed the band's 'Dare You to Move' the night before in California, and this time, they joined forces for 'Meant to Live.'

"Look at this crowd," the perpetually sunny Taylor said to Jon, who'd stopped by despite having a Switchfoot gig booked for later in the evening. "How beautiful is this?"

"This is a good rock 'n' roll moment," he said.

I still say this girl cannot sing worth a frogs flip.....Are that many people Tone Deft?....If not for her All Star marketing team and agency. Today she'd be asking "Would You Like Cheese On That"?

You also have to be 'deft' (love your third-grade spelling) not to know she articulates the feelings of girls and young women all over the western world, is the greatest songwriter of her generation, and puts on one of the best shows ever. I suggest you listen to her three major albums from start to finish if you want to have a considered opinion. Her 'markeing team' is the millions of fans who love her, by the way. It's that simple. Oh, and Bob Dylan was the greatest songwriter of his generation too, but nobody ever said he had Frankie or Dino's voice. Frankie and Dino who?
