Loretta Lynn Recovering at Home After 'One Scary Night'

Getty Images

Loretta Lynn is back home in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., recovering from the beginning stages of bacterial pneumonia. The 76-year-old country legend was rushed to the hospital in Bowling Green, Ky. over the weekend, forcing her to cancel performances in Ashland Ky. and Durahm, N.C.

"Around 1:30 AM Saturday morning, Loretta awoke on her tour bus complaining that she was having a hard time breathing," her rep reports in a statement on the singer's website. Loretta herself adds, "It was one scary night ... But I am feeling better and just gonna take it easy for a couple of weeks."

Loretta is scheduled to take the stage again as early as Nov. 3 in Knoxville, Tenn. There's no word yet on if that show will go on as planned, but she's certainly proved resilient and determined before, performing in 2009 after a bout with the flu and earlier this year in Buffalo, N.Y. after undergoing knee replacement surgery. Best wishes to Loretta for a speedy recovery!

I wonder why stars like Loretta Lynn continue to push themselves when they have already achieved more wealth than they need to live 100 years in comfort. Don't they know it's time to slow down and smell the roses "before" they are made into an arrangement on their coffins? An interesting side effect of some of our more popular stars retiringwould bet that it would create jobs for up and coming younger entertainers.

Loretta, I want to wish you every day to a better health for yourself. You have given so much to your fans over the last five decades......I have been to your home in Hurricane Mills, You were there working with your daughters and Mooney was driving around on a big green tractor......People should know that you are exactly as people see you on stage. A country lady, gracious to a fault, and doing what she loves.....Best Wishes always and I hope you are feeling better soon.

Hello Ken

You are in my prayers Loretta. I saw your long time drummer, Ken Riley, and he said he mailed my package thru to Rosie's attention. Read, rest up, get stronger and keep singing your songs, Sweet Kentucky Girl!

Ok, here is the insider scoop on pnuemonia. It is incurable, however there is a vaccine you can get and you'll never have to worry about getting pnuemonia.
You can get this vaccine at your county health department. I got one in March. While I was there I said "Can I get protected for everything, they said "Yes". So I got vaccinated for everything: 5 kinds of flu icluding H1N1, whooping cough, diptheria, tetanus, and pnuemonia. Knock on wood, but I haven't had a sniffle, fever, cough, sore throat, nothing since....Al-

Good luck with your health plans. You "might" want to check with another doctor for a second opinion before you take any chances though.

Right now I can go into a room filled with pnuemonia cases, whooping coughers, rampant flu snivelers, and diptheria growlers and not even get a hiccup. I can give you an opinion..Al-
