2011 CMA Awards Winners

Evan Agostini, AP

Country music's biggest night belongs to the Band Perry! Lead singer Kimberly Perry is the big winner at the 45th annual Country Music Association Awards, taking home three trophies. She shares with brothers Reid and Neil two of those honors, New Artist and Single of the Year, while the blond beauty is the solo winner for Song of the Year, having written the band's breakthrough hit, 'If I Die Young,' by herself.

"The CMAs are the Super Bowl in the Band Perry household, so we feel like we're walking away with Super Bowl rings tonight," Kimberly told reporters backstage. "It's just great to be a part of the country music family tonight."

'If I Die Young' has certainly been a career changer for the talented threesome. It topped both the country and AC charts and has sold more than three million copies.

"I believe this song would've been written with or without me. It was a song meant to be here," said a beaming Kimberly upon accepting Song of the Year honors. "I'm just excited to have had a pen and paper in hand when this song came to earth."

Taylor Swift stakes claim to the night's top honor, CMA Entertainer of the Year. "Thanks to all the fans who filled up the stadiums all over the world this year," the clearly astonished singer said from the stage, going on to also thank every guest artist who has joined her for surprise duets on her Speak Now world tour, reading names ranging from Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney to Usher and Justin Bieber off her hand. "You have made my year!"

Right behind the Band Perry in number of 2011 CMA trophies is another first-time winner, Jason Aldean. The Georgia native took home Music Event of the Year with Kelly Clarkson for their smash duet, 'Don't You Wanna Stay.' His multi-platinum selling 'My Kinda Party' album was named Album of the Year, in what was arguably the toughest category of the night.

"What a year!" said a visibly moved Jason from the stage. He went on to thank his wife and daughters "for putting up with my schedule" and his longtime producer, Michael Knox, for plucking him from an Atlanta club and bringing him to Nashville 13 years ago to fulfill his dreams.

the dixie chicks were nominated for cma entertainer of the year before they were even a headlining act. then they won cma entertainer of the year the very next year when they just started becoming a headlining act. their first headlining tour, the "fly" tour, was a country music record breaking tour. they won 10 cma awards with only 3 albums. they may not be traditional country artists, but they are darn sure entertaining! as for the 2011 cma awards, im glad TBP were the big winners. "if i die young" is an instant classic! taylor swift is country pop, imo, but mostly pop. the reason she wins country awards is simple. you can vote as many times as you want. little kids and tweens vote hundreds of times because they have nothing better to do. most of country music these days, without garth, shania and the chicks, are overrated with the exception of a few artists. reba is better than ever. faith made a good comeback. toby keith is still doing his thing. well, he made a fool of himself with ":red solo cup." anyways, there is good and bad in all genres. there are no facts when it comes to how good an artist. is but some people are so high and mighty that they think their opinions are #1 and everyone else is below them.

Taylor is country. She had one of the only performances that was not over the top wailing guitars and heavy drum beats.
You know who is not country ? Jason Aldean, he's just a whole lot of noise. A lot closer to AC/DC than George Strait. Another no talent who makes noise for frat boys. Dirt Road really country.

Taylor Swift ranks right up there with the dixie chicks! Sometimes I like the way Country has gone but not when the likes of Taylor Swift win the top Country award!

Who writes the copy for these award announcements? Do we not know the difference between plural and singular verbs. The Band Perry is a group and is not an "are". Sugarland is a group, singular and an "is", not an "are'. Lady Antebellum is a group and an "is", not an "are". Sugarland has its fifth win in a row and Lady Antebellum is the CMA Vocal Group winner. May sound trivial, but it's not when it comes to good grammar.

Taylor Swift Entertainer of the Year? What a crock! This no-singing, AutoTune Queen makes a mockery of good country music and country music singers. There are so many more worthy CMA artists than Taylor Swift for this honor. What a hack!

I also bet you don't like country music, so your opinion don't count.

YEah, her opinion counts. I LOVE country music and understand the fact that Taylor Swift, like the above poster said, makes a mockery of country music singers. This is one of the most no talented, overhyped performers that has ever appeared on stage. Swift couldn't even win a lame TV talent show like American Idol, her voice is so pathetic. Carrie Underwood should be embarrassed to be associated with a talentless hack like Swift. Yeah, Joy's opinion counts, just like mine counts, and everyone's who recognize that Taylor Swift is a blemish to country music.
