Brad and Carrie Keep the Jokes Coming at the 2011 CMAs

Brad Paisley and Carrie UnderwoodFrederick Breedon IV/FilmMagic

Tonight's 45th annual CMA Awards has been the fourth year in a row for Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood to exercise a bit of comedic relief. The show began with Brad's hilarious version of 'Are You Ready for Some Football' -- an obvious jab at Hank Williams Jr.'s recent choice words about President Obama on a FOX morning show. But it looks like Bocephus took it in stride as he appeared behind the funny couple just as they began to parody his classic song, 'Family Tradition.' They even suggested the legendary singer not "hit the bottle" before hitting the recording studio.

The night progressed with quick-witted gags aplenty. At one point, Brad and Carrie took out Barbie versions of country music's first couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. "Let's find out if they're anatomically correct!" Brad screamed after the dolls had a little makeout session. The hosts then turned around to check the physical attributes of said dolls -- much to their chagrin. "There's nothing there!" they said. "I like it, I love it. I want some more of it," Brad sang with a smile as Tim and Faith laughed hysterically.

'Modern Family' star Eric Stonestreet joined Brad and Carrie for a parody of Randy Travis' 'Forever and Ever, Amen,' poking fun at the 72-day marriage of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries. (Watch video of their funny performance below.)

But the highlight of hilarity came in the form of a wily Muppet -- Miss Piggy herself. Right before Lady Antebellum were to perform their hit single 'Own the Night,' the ham of a puppet rushed the stage to take the place of Carrie Underwood. But before the show could go any further, the blond bombshell (the human one, that is) returned to the stage and proclaimed that the mischievous porker locked her in the dressing room. However, Brad was just smitten with Ms. Piggy. "We're like bacon and eggs," he said before the Muppet socked the guitarist cold.

The night's humor seemed to run smoothly and ended on quite a topical note with Brad announcing "We'll see you at the Oscars," in reference to Eddie Murphy quitting as host of movies' biggest night. The way things went last year at the Academy Awards, these two might have a chance!

They were rude and nasty to Faith, Tim, Nicole, Keith and Brad's wife. I hope they never host again. The skits were all bad and her clothes were awful too. The pink outfit with the pink headband made me laugh! She acts and dresses so stupid.

The humor you two added to the awards show. AboutHank, Jr., however, I think that he was done a misjustice, that was blown out of proportion for a like comparison - he should still be on the football show. They were looking for a reason to dump him I say. Carrie's outfits left a lot to be desired especially the final one - shows how much she respects herself and what she is selling - not music for sure. I agreed with the pictures of some of the outfits at the awards except for Lauren's - she was fine and age appropriate and also in good taste. The others were not. LeAnn Rimes looks back enough without the comical gown. If it hadn't had that at the back, it would have been fine. I did support Brad for the entertainer award out of all the nominees. Miranda kept pulling on her dress - shouldn't wear something she can't hold up. Of course, this is just my opinion about all this. One other thing, more songs over the past decade at least do not sound like country music - they are trying to turn it into pop music. Please stop it. Lauren and Scotty at least are refreshing with their country music. - sounds country. Maybe it is not too late yet. Country music can be saved.

BTW...Did anyone else notice Taylor Swift wrote her speech on her arm!! And didn't even hide the fact she was reading her list of people to thank from her forearm!! This is the CMAs not high school!!! Wow! She should be ashamed of herself!

Hello Gorgeous!!

Had no clue the country music awards were even on- until I read this. Although, never would've watched it anyway. You've heard one country song- you've heard them all. I can't decipher one from the other. I absolutely despise country music. However, I do think some of the singers are amazing singers/performers. It's just a shame their voices and talent are being wasted on country music songs. (Just my opinion- which, I am entitled to.) Congrats to all the winners!

Exactly what I was thinking! The show was mostly talentless teenie boppers who don't fit into the classifications such as rock, hip hop, rap, so they throw them into country while all the real country musicians sit in the audience! I think the voting committee was made up of high school students! Someone please tell Taylor Swift that country music is about MUSIC and not about practicing in the mirror all your cute facial expressions and how to tilt your head to the camera just right to look cute!! She's right up there with Faith Hill "Look at me. I'm so pretty" who cares if I can sing! Is this really what country music is coming to??? One of the worst CMAs ever!!

The wimps that run ESPN should bring Hank back. ESPN Football will never be as good.

I thought that the opening spoof with Hank Jr. was hilarious. Kudos to whoever wrote that!! The Barbie Doll thing was funny too, however, I got the feeling that Nicole Kidman did not see the humor in the Barbie Dolls of her and Keith.
