"I wanna thank the fans of country music again; your stories have changed our lives," Kimberly told the star-studded crowd.
Single of the Year is awarded to the performer and producer, while Song of the Year is given to the songwriter. The Band Perry aren't the first group to win both. Single and Song double winners of the past decade include Brooks & Dunn's 'Believe' and Tim McGraw's 'Live Like You Were Dying.'
"I believe this song would've been written with or without me. It was a song meant to be here," Kimberly said from the stage. "I'm just excited to have had a pen and paper in hand when this song came to earth."
The Band Perry beat out Sara Evans, Zac Brown Band, Jason Aldean with Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton for Single of the Year. Their fellow nominees in the Song category were tunes by Jason Aldean , Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney with Grace Potter.
The Band Perry's three total wins tonight (they also picked up New Artist of the Year honors) makes for the trio's first-ever CMA victories.
