Jimmy Fallon to Release New CD on Nashville Record Label

Jimmy Fallon's musical aspirations have been apparent since his start as a 20-something goofball on 'Saturday Night Live.' Since landing a job as host of NBC's 'Late Night' talk show, Jimmy and house band the Roots have brought endless musical medleys into the homes of American insomniacs. From the three-part 'History of Rap' with Justin Timberlake to covering Pink Floyd with Dierks Bentley, the comedian has shown that he is an excellent performer and avid music fan.

So with all those Neil Young impersonations (see photo below) and 'Fievel Goes West' musical interludes, what is Jimmy Fallon going to do next? Release an album, of course! Today, Warner Music Nashville announced that the 'Late Night' host will join the primarily country-centric guild's roster. He just has one thing left to do: write some tunes. "Having a new album coming out soon on Warner Bros. means so much to me," the New York native exclaims in a press release. "Mostly, it means I should probably start writing some songs."

Warner Music Nashville is the proud home of many comedy acts and their records, which include past projects by Bob Hope, Steve Martin, Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Katt Williams and Lisa Lampanelli.

Funny man Fallon's record will be released in the summer of 2012 and will feature his most famous musical moments on 'Late Night.' We're hoping his covers of 'Party in the USA' and the 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' theme song make the cut!

Johnny and June, Faron, Emmylou, Merle, Asleep at the Wheel, Mr Strait, Kris, Mel, Gene, Ricky, Ronnie, early Eagles, early Buffett, Tammy, Dwight...none of todays "country" performers come close to the caliber of country music I've come to know and respect. Jimmy Fallon a country singer? Get real.

I wish Country music was just that COUNTRY MUSIC. It keeps getting prostituted by fakes and wannabees. George Jones, Hank Williams, Jr, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash are the real deal. Too many phonies use the country music stage to grab the spotlight when they dont belong there. Case in point: Faith Hill doesnt sing country, she doesnt even write her own songs. She does more commercials than she sings. She sold out years ago!! Now she sings the anthem for football. At age 46 she ought to leave the country arena where she never deserved to be and let really talented creative singer songwriters like Miranda Lambert take the spotlight. It would be better to bring Patty Loveless and Tanya Tucker back, rather than to have Faith over the Hill get on stage and sing her POP songs.

Please go away. We have enough talented people in Nashville who can't get a break because the airwave are filled with the likes of Sugarland, Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney and other country music pretenders. We don't need some carpetbagger from New York coming in and trying to be a country singer.
