The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to individuals who have made "contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording." The Allman Brothers Band, Diana Ross, Antonio Carlos Jobim, the Memphis Horns and Gil Scott-Heron will also be recognized with the Country Music Hall of Famers.
With a career spanning an illustrious 55 years, the 80-year-old 'Possum' isn't slowing down anytime soon. "I would love to do a few albums with some different artists," George tells Billboard. "As far as any singles go, I'm not really looking forward to that. I would love to do some duets again, maybe like some of the funny things that Ernest Tubb and Red Foley used to do years ago."
Glen, who opened up this year about his battle with Alzheimer's disease, will resume his farewell tour January 3 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. The 18-city trek concludes March 24 in Silver Springs, Fla. Get a full list of dates here.
