Wear Your Music is a an organization that handcrafts Original Artists Bracelets from used and donated guitar strings of the artist of your choice. For instance, you can pick up a Tim McGraw piece for $150, with 100 percent of profits going to his Tug McGraw Foundation. Or, you can donate to the Toby Keith Foundation by purchasing the 'Red Solo Cup' singer's old strings.
In 2011, the company raised more than $60,000 for selected charities by selling jewelry crafted from the instruments of 150 different singers ranging from Jason Mraz and John Mayer to Eric Clapton and Gregg Allman.
"We created this company in 2007 when we noticed that musicians were just tossing away their used guitar strings," Wear Your Music co-founder Hannah Garrison explains. "We wanted to use these guitar strings to make a difference by recycling a piece of rock memorabilia to create bracelets for fans. We took it a step further and decided to donate the proceeds from the sale of the Artist Bracelet to the musician's charity of choice."
Other country artists who participate in the venture are Craig Morgan, whose bracelet goes for $200, with profits going to the Craig Morgan Charitable Fund, and Willie Nelson, whose $100 piece benefits Farm Aid.
