Kelly Clarkson to Sing National Anthem at Super Bowl XLVI

It may be the most coveted live TV performance gig of the year, and for 2012 the spotlight will belong to Kelly Clarkson. The superstar has been tapped to perform the national anthem at this year's Super Bowl in Indianapolis. She'll be part of an all-star mix of country and rock artists who have been invited to perform for what will undoubtedly be the most-watched sporting event of 2012.

Kelly will follow her buddies Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, who will sing a duet of 'America the Beautiful' prior to kick-off. In addition, Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley and Sara Evans will also perform concerts in separate events leading up to the big game. Darius and Dierks will each sing on different nights as part of the 10-day pre-game festivities at Super Bowl Village. Meanwhile, Sara will perform for the Taste of the NFL's 21st Annual Party With a Purpose on Feb. 4, to raise funds and awareness for various hunger-relief organizations.


Pop icon Madonna will take the stage for the Super Bowl's halftime show. She will be joined by M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj for a special collaboration on her new single, 'Give Me All Your Love.'

The Super Bowl isn't the only chance Kelly will have to hang out with Mr. and Mrs. Shelton. The 'Since U Been Gone' singer will most likely spend time with the reigning CMA Male and Female Vocalists of the Year on the set of 'The Voice,' where she is rumored to serve as a mentor on Blake's team. Miranda will also mentor Team Blake during the show's second season. 'The Voice' premieres immediately after the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl XLVI will air live from the Pan Am Plaza in Indianapolis on Feb. 5 at 6:00 PM ET on NBC.

She will do a great job singing the nationa anthem. I am excited to see how Blake and Miranda sing America The Beautiiful together. They harmonize beautifully. Its going to be a great night of music until Madonna does the half time show. Then we will need to put our tvs on mute.

Kelly, PLEASE SING IT STRAIGHT AND DON'T GHETTOFY IT!!! The only 'end runs' during this game should be on the field, NOT in our beloved Star-spangled Banner!

Oh no, here we go again! Kelly is the sacrificial lamb. Why can't they just let a group perform the anthem, it would be difficult tell if the song is flubbed.

I am so excited that Kelly Clarkson is going to sing the National Anthem. I hope she does her own approach and doesn't overdo it or put too many riffs on it, like Christina Aguilera did it last year. Just do it right. She's a powerful singer.

I just hope she sings is straight. There is a reason everyone loves the Whitney Houston version from the Superbowl. She didn't try to make it a new song.
