Garth Brooks Gives Emotional Testimony During Hospital Trial

Garth Brooks continues his testimony in the trial against Integris Canadian Valley Regional Hospital in Yukon, Okla. The singer is suing to recover the $500,000 gift he gave to the hospital to build a Living Center which would be named after his late mother. Construction of the center never took place and now Garth is asking for his money back, in addition punitive damages.

The singer reportedly became emotional as he shared with jurors on Friday (Jan. 20) that his understanding was that construction of the Living Center was a "done deal." The hospital stated that the gift was "anonymous and unconditional" and they are not obligated to use the funds for any specific purpose.

The trial could wrap up as early as today (Jan. 24) but followers of the entertainer have reaped one unexpected benefit from his presence at the proceedings. After spending the day in court on Friday, Garth and his wife, singer Trisha Yearwood, took the time to meet with several fans and to sign autographs (See the video here).

In more positive news for the country icon, recent figures from Nielsen Soundscan reveal that Garth is the top-selling artist of the past 20 years, selling more than 68.5 million units in the past two decades. That number exceeds the second-place Beatles by more than five million units. He also continues his five-year run at the Wynn Las Vegas casino. Tickets to his show can be purchased here.

He should donate every cent to a children's hospital. I can't believe what a greedy bastard he turned out to be.

My opinion is not going to change anything. This is an issue between Garth and the Hospital. I say let them and the courts deal with it. I have enough headaches of my own.

Hopefully that headache doesn't send you to a hospital that Garth robbed.

Um I would hardly call Trisha Yearwood a bimbo. The two knew each other before he met Sandy his now ex-wife. They have been friends forever. Who are you to judge when you don't know the guy. Let's hear some of your history so the rest of us can judge you. See how you like it.

What demented jury would award Garth an extra half milllion for his mental anguish?? He donated money and they didn't spend it as agreed so he demanded it back. Why give him double? He already has more money than God. Where do they get these morons....

I don't know what happened to Garth,he went from being one of the most popular singers in Nashville to some whiney ego driven Hollywood weirdo.

Hollywood weirdo? I don't think he lives in Hollywood. Ego driven, whiney? The guy simply wants his money back. He was told the money would go to something specific and it didn't. He should get his money back.

The case looks to be over the jury found Integris Canadian Valley Regional Hospital was at fault and ordered $1,000,000 paid to Garth Brooks. The hospital says they are glad this is over. I take that to be an admission of guilt.

Actually, according to reports, the money that he donated is sitting untouched in a hospital account. So, no, if he were to get the money back, he wouldn't be taking money the hospital needs to survive. If it was needed for some other purpose, it would have been spent already. Also, according to other articles I have read it was not an anonymous donation, but that they were in talks for months & the hospital presented him with several options.

Either way, I'm curious to see what the jury decides.
