The majority of the books will be available in those 21 libraries, with each having a donation plate on its inside cover that reads, "A Gift to the Children of Nashville from Taylor Swift and Scholastic Inc." Other donated books will go to underprivileged kids, pre-schools and daycare centers, while some books will be used as prizes for students who complete their summer reading programs.
Taylor also partnered with Scholastic Inc. back in October, donating 6,000 books to libraries in the city in which she was born, Reading, Pennsylvania. Hundreds more books were given away as prizes, with a grand total of around $68,000 worth of books donated in the superstar's birthplace.
Similar to Dolly's Imagination Library program, which provides children under the age of five with a new book every month, Taylor's donations are part of a larger initiative to encourage childhood literacy.
