"[The movie is] untitled right now, but we go to New Orleans in two weeks," she shares with E!Online. "I'm really excited. It's nothing people have seen me do before. It's strictly acting, no singing or dancing."
The new role has already earned high praise from Julianne's longtime boyfriend, Ryan Seacrest, who boasts proudly that Julianne plays a "very serious role" that is a departure from what she has portrayed in the past. Julianne portrays a Christian evangelist in the upcoming film.
"I've gotten into a terrible accident, so two-thirds of my body is burned," she says of the dramatic turn.
Julianne will first be seen in the highly-anticipated 'Rock of Ages,' with an all-star cast that includes Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Alec Baldwin. The movie, which is a musically-rich flick based in the late '80s, was right up the singer's alley.
"It was incredible. It was like a big concert party every single day," the former 'Dancing With the Stars' pro shares. "We got to sing these songs that are so well known, and we got to be in the '80s and have fun with that. And the cast was incredible, of course! It's very cool to be able to say that my first real film was 'Footloose' and my second film I got to star alongside Tom Cruise and Catherine Zeta-Jones. I'm very fortunate and I know it doesn't happen like that every day, so I'm counting my blessings and working really hard."
One thing Julianne's fans will have to wait for is new music. While she reveals her sophomore album is finished, she adds that she plans on focusing more on her blossoming acting career in the future instead.
While there's no release date yet or other details for her next film, 'Rock of Ages' will hit theaters on June 15.
