Dwight Yoakam Withdraws From 'Lone Ranger' Movie

Dwight Yoakam has pulled out of 'The Lone Ranger' due to scheduling conflicts. The country star was supposed to play a villain in the flick, which stars Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger, Johnny Depp as Tonto and Tom Wilkinson as the chief bad guy, Latham Cole. William Fitchner, known for supporting roles in blockbusters including 'Crash' and 'Armageddon,' will take Dwight's place.

Directed by Gore Verbinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, 'The Lone Ranger' is supposed to begin filming next week. It is tentatively slated for a May 2013 release.

We will see Dwight on the big screen soon with his buddy Billy Bob Thornton. The 'Sling Blade' co-stars are teaming once again, this time for a movie Billy Bob wrote about World War II veterans.

"Billy wrote a new screenplay titled 'Jayne Mansfield's Car,'" Dwight tells the San Luis Obispo Tribune. "It's supposed to star myself, Billy Bob, and Dennis Quaid as three brothers in 1969, who are ex World War II vets wrestling with their own families and lives on a large cattle ranch in western Alabama."

There's no word yet on when 'Jayne Mansfield's Car' will hit theaters.
