Mindy McCready's Son to Remain in Foster Care in Arkansas

It's been more than two months since Mindy McCready took her 5-year-old son, Zander, away from his grandmother, Gayle Inge (who is also his legal guardian). The troubled singer fled Florida, leading police on a hunt first to Tennessee and then to Arkansas, where she was eventually found with her son hiding in a closet in her boyfriend's home. The little boy was then placed in foster care, where it appears he will now stay while the case continues to wind its way through the court system.

In recent developments, the Arkansas social service agency handling the matter has requested that the custody case, which is currently in Florida, be transferred to their state so they can better handle the legal proceedings. Mindy requested that her son remain in Arkansas, while the boy's father, Billy McKnight, who is also fighting for custody, asked that Zander be returned to Florida.

According to TodaysTHV.com, a Florida judge ruled on Wednesday (Feb. 22) that he will retain jurisdiction over the case, while allowing Zander to remain in his current living situation in Arkansas until further details can be worked out.

While this is a disappointment for Billy, the social service agency in Arkansas has suggested they may pay for some of his travel expenses, so he can afford to visit his son once a month -- a decision that is causing some controversy within the state.

"In some out-of-state cases, we look at the financial impact," a representative for the agency explains. "Would it be better for the taxpayers to pay for a flight for a parent on occasion for a short time period, or would it be better for the taxpayers to pay multiple times to have case-workers fly to the other state, stay there several days so they could testify or have the child fly back and forth?"

Meanwhile, Mindy has complied with the judge's order to complete parental classes. The the 'Ten Thousand Angels' singer, who has had multiple stints in rehab, has also passed all of her drug tests since the incident in December.

The 36-year-old singer, who is pregnant with twins, hopes to be able to live with her son and be his full-time parent someday. "I have vigorously gone out and tried to learn from my mistakes and tried to better myself in every way possible," she told ABC's '20/20.' "There's nobody that wants to be better at being me than me."

I don't trust state agencies, they are corrupted and not trust worthy !! However, if she can not present her self in a matter that people would judge her, she will fail. She can not be overwhelmed with emotions because of the judgement that people will reflex upon her. "Yes!, this is a world of judgement, and yes, we have to be politically correct to be part of this world that is twisted". And, yes her emotions are valid because it's her child whom she loves so deeply, so my suggestion to her is to "Pray, have faith, stay strong", there is a GOD, and justed will prevail to Gods will not ours.

Mindy stay strong, the Lord is with you, lean on him, and he will be with you all the way.i understand what you are going through, I'm living it too. I am the foster parent to my grandson, he sees his mother every week, we have struggled so much with are daughter with her problems, and yes, she is having a another son in april. we have raised Michael for almost three years now, I feel, you have to earn that love back, for the sake of the children, but we are willing to see all this through with the Lord's help. mindy, just be the loving mother you should be and things will work out. may the lord be with you.

Yea, easier said than done when people are cornered they are all sweet, sugar, and honey. I would never believe a single word this woman has to say, after her previous behavior. Tell her to prove herself if she is worth keeping a child in her custody.Once beaten twice shy. Never forget that we might change some of our habits but never our nature-------
