"Nothing, and I mean NOTHING brightens Kevin's day more than Taylor Swift," Victoria writes on the Facebook page, which was first publicized by HuffPost Impact. "Kevin DESERVES more than anyone a special event in his life."
Making the request perfectly poetic, prom happens to fall on Kevin's birthday, June 1. Despite his years of chemo, spinal taps and bone marrow screenings, the resilient teen has stayed active with at Sterling High School, playing football and basketball. According to his sister, though, he's never asked, 'Why me?'
Things aren't getting any easier for Kevin, either. WTXF-TV/Philadelphia reports that methotrexate, the drug he uses to combat Leukemia, is in short supply.
Kevin used the drug during his first bout with cancer. "That was my weekly medicine," he tells the TV station. "I took it every week and now it's just strange seeing that I might not be able to use it, the medicine that helped save my life."
Despite the fact that the supply and price of the drug are making acquiring it difficult, the high school senior is staying positive. "I had no doubt I would kick its butt the first time, and I did," he says. "Hopefully I'll be able to continue that this time, even if methotrexate isn't in the picture."
As for his other challenge, asking Taylor to prom, there's no word yet whether or not the Grammy winner has seen the request. However, a quick look at her website schedule shows that no concert appearances have been announced for June 1.
