"That's just ridiculous ... I don't even know what to say," Jason said, failing to hide his shock.
Jason played Nashville last week, and welcomed a few special guests to the stage. Kelly Clarkson joined him for their No. 1 duet, 'Don't You Wanna Stay,' while he and opener Luke Bryan decided to play a few covers for the crowd.
"We want to use this time to pay tribute to some of the singers that we grew up listening to and who influenced us," Jason said. "I wanted to have Tracy Lawrence come out tonight but he was out of town." The pair launched into 'Time Marches On' before giving their rendition of Alabama's 'Love in the First Degree.'
As for new music, the 'Fly Over States' singer says it's on the way. "I'm done with my part of the new album," he reveals. "[My producer] Knox is in the studio mixing and mastering now, and then we'll release a single from my new album in the summer, and we're looking at a fourth quarter release for my new album. So a new album will be coming this year, but it's coming a little late, just because we've got an album on the charts that won't die, which is kind of a nice problem to have! So we decided to put out one more single from this album, 'Fly Over States,' and that will be it for this album."
Until then, the next stop of the My Kinda Party tour is March 15 in Houston, Texas. Get a full list of tour dates here.
