Taylor Swift, 'Safe and Sound' Video - Behind-the-Scenes Photos

Nick Rau

It's not often you see Taylor Swift with tousled hair, no makeup and bare feet, but that's exactly the look the country superstar chose for her 'Safe and Sound' video, featuring the Civil Wars. Topping off her ensemble is a vintage white dress that makes her look innocently feminine, yet a bit ghostly, complementing the tune's eerie vibe. Shot in the woods and a graveyard in Watertown, Tenn., the 'Safe and Sound' video is the first to be released from 'The Hunger Games' movie soundtrack. Taylor shares exclusively with The Boot these photos from the set of the video. I've always thought she has too much eye makeup on. Absolutely hate the eye lashes. They look like they're in the way of her vision! Way too fake!! She's absolutely adorable without it...

I agree. When she was young someone commented that looked like she didn't have any eyes because you could not see them. As girls can do, she remembered that forever and believed that crap that there was something wrong with her. To make up for this imaginary defect, she used too much eyeliner. Now evidently the professionals have finally convinced her to let them stop doing that.

Taylor is unique in the world, and occupies a place of one. There is no genre that holds her unless you call her American music, and even that is too small. She's been writing hits since 13, and caught criticism for writing 'teenage' songs. (she was an adolescent when she wrote Tim McGraw and Teardrops on my Guitar!) In a cutthroat world she went and landed a development contract at 13 with RCA Nashville, and BROKE IT at 14 because they wanted to use her as a cute teenager singing other peoples' music. She signed with a startup called Big Machine at 14 as their very first artist, and turned them into the BIG MACHINE. If you listen to her growth chronologically in her albums, her brilliance is undeniable. She devours history, and is making it at the same time. She's the youngest person ever honored by the Songwriters Hall of Fame, (average age of the board: 65) and the most awarded at her age in history. She sold more tickets to her concerts worldwide in 2011 than anybody, and if you watch the entire Speak Now DVD you'll see why. She produces her own shows, does the costumes, sets, lighting, etc., and everyone in her band loves her, and is now a millionaire. And oh yeah...she's really truly pretty without makeup, too.

Really, I never thought this would be a topic for a article considering everyone already knew how pretty she is with or without makeup, she is just pure and natural...

In response to some of the superficial comments here, I can only say that Taylor occupies a catagory of one in music, culture, and the world. There is no one else who went out and landed a development contract at 13, and broke it at 14 because they wouldn't let her do her own songs but wanted to use her as a cute teen for their own purposes, then signed as the first artist with a start-up company called Big Machine, which is now the BIG MACHINE in Nashville due to her. If one listens to her musical chronologically, the growth of her songwriting (which began wonderfully, writing hits at 13!) is awesome. Her love of and grasp of history is indicative of an intellect and I.Q. north of 160, and her instincts for dealing with the world of the music industry, American culture, critics, and the famous is flawless to the point of supernatural. She is a refuge for millions of girls and young women, and they are stronger for it. She plans her life for years ahead, beginning as an adolescent. People knock her for writing teenage songs, all of which she wrote as an adoleacent and teenager, which she's long done with. (and they made million$!) Her growth is a joy to behold, and her existence is jusification for an entire culture in my book. And oh yeah, she's beautiful too.

I agree totally. Let me add something. Back at the grammies in 2010, she sang live with Stevie Nicks. There was a monitor problem, and she could not hear herself right. It caused her to sing badly out of tune. They had done the song twice in rehearsal and it was fine, but the technical problem caused her to sound bad at showtime.
There was a critic who had been a big fan of her's, named Bob L. After the problem at the grammies, Bob L turned on her. He said that she had just destroyed her career in one night and was too stupid to know it, and that she could not sing. Taylor was devistated. She felt terrible about this, and the haters picked up on it and criticized her terrlbly. It is her reaction that is amazing. She wrote a song about it called "Mean", and worked her ass off on that song. I saw it performed on the ACM's in spring of 2011. Faith Hill led a standing ovation at that time. She did the song in her show all through the year, getting better all the time. Grammies came, and the song was nominated for two grammies. She won them both. Then, when she performed the song, she got a huge standing ovation there. They were telling her they knew all about Bob L., and he could go to hell. They were also telling her how much they appreciated her for having the guts to bring the whole thing out in public in a song. I have watched that performance many times, and it is hard to say how proud I am of that fine young woman. She told Ellen D. that the standing ovation was one of the five best moments of her life. She is without equal, and I love her.
