Kristin Chenoweth Tour Promises Mix of Country & Broadway

Gino DePinto, AOL

Emmy and Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth will kick off the North American leg of her first-ever world tour on May 9 in Seattle. The actress/singer will perform tunes from her recently released country album, 'Some Lessons Learned,' as well as an array of Broadway favorites, including tunes from 'Wicked,' 'Promises, Promises,' and 'Glee.'

"I've never gotten to support an album with a tour," the Oklahoma native told The Boot back in September. "I'm excited about the challenge of it and to get to meet my fans that have not heard me do this. I have a lot to say on this album. The great thing about being a recording artist is you get to say something. It's wonderful to feel good about a vocal, but it's more important to be able to get a message across. That's why we sing, because we can't speak it! I had a lot to sing about, so I hope people will come and check me out on the road."

The trek will crisscross North America, before coming to a close in Kristin's hometown of Broken Arrow, Okla. on June 24. What better place is there to end the run that celebrates an album exploring her origins? "I wanted to do an album dedicated to my roots," she explains. "Not these [points to her hair] but this [points to her heart]. I grew up singing country music and gospel music, so it's the record that I feel born to do. It's not really switching genres for me, even though it's not what I'm known for."

Before the tour hits the road, fans can catch Kristin on ABC's new show, 'GCB,' which premieres March 4. The show, which is based on the book 'Good Christian Bitches,' features the multi-talented entertainer as the nemisis to the show's main character, played by Leslie Bibb.
