'Hollywood to Dollywood' is a feature-length documentary chronicling the journey of identical twin brothers Gary and Larry Lane who have written a script for a film called 'Full Circle,' with a role in mind specifically for their idol, Dolly. Having struck out in their efforts to get the screenplay to the singer-actress, the pair take off on a cross-country journey to personally deliver it to her in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., home of the global icon's Dollywood theme park, which was celebrating its 25th anniversary at the time the film was made.
Driving an RV named Jolene, the 36-year-old brothers -- natives of North Carolina who now live in Hollywood and work in TV commercials and other acting roles -- encounter everyday Americans and experience everything from the 2010 Nashville flood to an Oklahoma tornado. The film also features appearances from several of their famous friends and acquaintances, many of whom are also Dolly fans, including actors Leslie Jordan, Chad Allen, Beth Grant and Ann Walker, and Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black. The brothers may even get to spend some time with Dolly herself -- although you'll have to see the film to find out.
'Hollywood to Dollywood' will be screened for the first time in Tennessee at the Nashville Film Festival. Other music-themed documentaries set for the week-long event include the world premiere of 'Hank Cochran: Livin' for a Song,' about the late legendary songwriter, 'Charlie Louvin: Still Rattlin' the Devil's Cage' and 'Under African Skies,' detailing the making of Paul Simon's landmark 1986 album, 'Graceland.'
Last year, more than 26,000 film enthusiasts from around the world attended the 2011 Nashville Film Festival, which screens approximately 250 films from nearly 50 countries. Tickets for the April 19-26, 2012 event will be on sale in early April.
