Casey James, 'The Good Life' - Exclusive Song Premiere

The countdown to Casey James' debut album is on! One week from today, on March 20, the 'American Idol' alum will release his self-titled CD on BNA Records. All this week and next week, he's revealing a new song or video from the project, with today's right here on The Boot! (See the full schedule here.) Listen below to the exclusive premiere of 'The Good Life,' which Casey co-wrote with famed Nashville songwriter Scooter Carusoe.

"I was just messin' around on the guitar. That's the way 99 percent of songs get written ... for me, anyway. It has to come out in a natural way," Casey tells The Boot of the writing session for this fun, uptempo track. "I said, 'Man, I'd really like to write a song about life being good, because I feel that way right now. Good things are coming, and I'm in a good place.'"

'The Good Life' was a last-minute addition to Casey's album. Very last minute. He recorded it just a half hour after writing it, and later decided to make it the very first track on the project.

Casey is so great!! I just bought the album ( http://bit.ly/GAxiJE << get it now if you dont have it yet!) and I cant stop listening. I cant pick my favorite song yet though. "The Good Life" is great, but I really love "Drive" (http://vevo.ly/AExGzc\)

Great to see this guy getting recognition. He has some talent! I like when he says that 99 percent of his songs come from him just messing around on a guitar. That is something that I can easily relate to. If you guys want some live performance or new track releases from the album, Casey has a bunch of them up on his website! Check it out!

Thanks yall!! I just LOVE this feel-good song!! It makes me happy every time!!! and its so awesome that it came out of him so quickly and knew it had to be on the album!!! This too, could make for an excellent 2nd single!!!! I LOVE it!!!!!!!

Ummm I think Casey needs to keep "messin' around with his guitar"!! It seems to deliver some amazing songs. This song is one of his best! I absolutely love it-"the good life coming on strong". Yes it is, Casey and just in time. :)
