Singer, songwriter, road warrior ... talk show host? Yep, that's the latest title Lee Brice will add to his resume when he co-hosts the fourth hour of the 'Today' show with Hoda Kotb on Tuesday, March 20. He'll be filling the seat of regular Kathie Lee Gifford, who is taking the week off.
Nearly a year ago, Hoda expressed her appreciation for the 'Love Like Crazy' singer when she included the tune on her 'iHoda Playlist' for the show. Now, she's taking her fandom a step further by inviting the South Carolina native to NYC to perform his current single, 'A Woman Like You.'
"I'm really excited to co-host with Hoda," Lee says. "I love that she loves country music and shares it with the world on her 'iHoda Playlist.' Buckle up Hoda, we're gonna have some fun!"
Other country singers who have filled in for Kathie Lee in recent years include Martina McBride, Blake Shelton, John Rich and Trisha Yearwood. However, Hoda might find that Lee is the best good luck charm of the crop. Fellow country singer Jerrod Niemann credits his buddy with saving his life last week. The two were on Jerrod's bus -- along with several others -- moments before it went up in flames.
"We're in [the bus] and [songwriter] Jon [Stone] comes over and says 'Your bus is on fire,'" Jerrod told TV station WRCB/Chattanooga. "And I'm like, 'Dude, your gun's shot. Our bus is not on fire.' I thought it was the heater. So I went to the thermostat and it says 'Auto Cool.' So Lee gets off the bus and is like, 'Dude, that's black smoke. Your bus is on fire.'"
"To be honest, thank the good Lord that @LeeBrice was here tonite or I'd be Freddy Krueger," Jerrod tweeted after the incident.
Catch Lee on the 'Today' show Tuesday (March 20) from 10 - 11:00 AM ET.
