The Grammy-winning pair, comprised of Joy Williams and John Paul White, have canceled all dates from March 26 to April 4, citing an immediate family member's illness as the reason. No other information has been provided. The shows affected include stops in Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, the Netherlands and Turkey.
The musical pair shot to fame last year with their debut album, 'Barton Hollow,' which won Best Folk Album at last month's Grammy Awards and also Best Country Duo/Group Performance for its title track.
"We had lofty expectations of what we wanted to happen, but what's happened this year has far, far, far surpassed what we thought we could do," John Paul explained to CMT. "Lots of stuff crossed off our bucket list. It's pretty overwhelming. We've kind of got blinders on right now trying to keep our heads about us."
The Civil Wars can also be heard on the soundtrack for the highly-anticipated movie, 'The Hunger Games.' Their song with Taylor Swift, 'Safe & Sound,' is the first official single from the project. (Watch its video below.) 'The Hunger Games' will hit theaters this Friday, March 23.
Keep track of the remainder of the Civil Wars' concert schedule, which includes a stop at Bonnaroo in June, here.
