"Never in a million years would I think that this journey would lead me to be onstage with Blake," Gwen gushed (quote via the Los Angeles Times). "I am honored he asked me to become a part of his show and a member of his 'road family.' Watching him perform is a learning experience in itself ... He has a big heart and an infectious laugh. Plus, he's pretty darn funny!"
The 'Drink On It' singer looks forward to spending time with his protégé. "The first time I ever heard Gwen's voice, I knew it was something special," says Blake. "She has the rare ability to combine power with passion in her singing abilities. Although our journey together has ended on 'The Voice,' it's just beginning in real life."
Gwen will head to Las Vegas on April 1 to perform with Blake for the ACM Awards, where he will also serve as co-host, along with Reba McEntire. Blake's tour, which also includes last year's 'Voice' runner-up, Dia Frampton, as well as Justin Moore, heads to South Dakota tonight (March 21), followed by stops in Montana, Arizona and Iowa.
