Carrie Underwood, Mike Fisher PSA Encourages Youth Struggling With Mental Health Issues

Launched by friends and family of Daron Richardson, a 14-year-old girl who took her life in 2010, the D.I.F.D. program aims to help young people cope with mental health issues and "reach out for help without fear or shame." It's a vision Carrie Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, share, and the couple recently filmed a public service announcement in support of the initiative.

"We just wanted to take a minute to tell you that you are beautiful, and you are special, and you are loved," Carrie says in the video, addressing struggling youth.

Mike, a professional hockey player who collaborated last year on an inspirational Christian children's book, urges teens not to let bullying, peer pressure or other troubles leave them feeling hopeless.

"Remember, you're not alone," he says. "There's always a way."

"Talk to somebody," Carrie adds. "There are so many people around you that can help. Your parents, friends, school teachers or church members are there to listen to you. You're worth so much more to them, and to God. So don't keep it all in."

It is a great help from Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher. Teenagers experiencing with mental health issues face various types of problems and which leads to serious problems if it is not treated at the same time. Parents and other people need to encourage teens to make themselves brave and face the issues and recover in a healthy way.

Carrie and Mike, I think it is an awesome and amazing message you are sending to youth. It was tough when I went to school and I have been out for almost 25 years. I have 2 boys. One in college and one in the3rd grade. My college age son, is a very strong, athletic, smart, beaming, liked individual. He is on his way to paving an amazing future for himself. I am very thankful to God, that he was not bullied, nor was he one of the ones who bullied. He was always protecting others. My 3rd grader is a very smart young man as well, but is on the ASD. Kids are cruel to other kids. He is liked by most at his school so far, by what I can see. However, I fear middle school for him. Kids are trying to find their place and if it means picking on others to be in the "Group" they will do it. I want so much for my children as I am sure so many parents want the same. I feel like I want to hide in the corners as he goes to school, (not be seen) so I can protect him and make sure no one picks on him. He has a strong personality, but has very sensitive feelings and gets hurt easy. Carrie and MIke, I wish you could give me some insight on what to do and how to handle this as he gets older and moves from elementary school with kids he has been with since kindergarten, into middle school with so many others that feed from other elementary schools, that may not get it. I am almost so afraid for him, that I have thought about home school after elementary school, however he needs the social aspect and it wouldn't be fair to him, but then maybe it would be. I am confused and lost as to what to do. Any ideas?
