2012 ACM Awards Winners

Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson each have a pair of trophies to add to their mantles after Sunday's Academy of Country Music Awards, leading the pack of winners at the Las Vegas show. But the night's top honor, once again, goes to Taylor Swift.

On the heels of her record-breaking, theatrical Speak Now world tour and multi-platinum selling album of the same name, Taylor takes home the ACM Entertainer of the Year trophy for the second year in a row.

"Thank you so much to the fans who voted for this. I am so happy about this!" said the blond stunner on stage. "I want to say to my fellow nominees in this category, I respect you so much and I love you. We work hard and we try to give back, and recently I've become aware of a different struggle that's going on. My date tonight was supposed to be a high school football player named Kevin McGuire, and he's not here, but I promised to give him a shout out. So Kevin, all your family and friends -- thank you for wanting to take me to the ACMs."

Kevin, who is battling cancer, had asked Taylor to his prom via a Facebook page organized by his sister. When the country superstar realized she couldn't make it to prom, she instead offered him an ACM Awards raincheck. He happily accepted but then couldn't make it to Las Vegas, as he was hospitalized on Friday.

Like Taylor, Miranda also retains her ACM title -- hers for Female Vocalist of the Year. It was a win that clearly shocked and humbled the singer-songwriter, who admitted her nerves in her acceptance speech before praising the country genre and thanking Jesus for "giving me this gift I can share with all my fans."

Miranda also now has ACM awards for three out of her four studio albums, taking home honors for 'Four the Record' in what was a tough battle. "I own every record in this category, and I've been listening and listening and thinking, 'Man, I'm not gonna get it.' Every one of your records is amazing," the 'Over You' singer said upon accepting the trophy. "I'm so thrilled. I will never take this trophy for granted. My albums are my babies."

Mr. and Mrs. Blake Shelton now have yet another pair of his-and-hers trophies, as Miranda's hubby is the ACM's Male Vocalist of the Year. "Oh man ... now that was a real shock face," Blake joked as Taylor Swift -- notorious for her 'shocked face' when winning awards -- presented him with the honor. "I didn't see that coming at all! ... I was sitting back there repeating the lines to Dierks [Bentley's] song, 'It's been a long, hard ride, got a ways to go,' and that is how I feel tonight."

First-time ACM winners include the Eli Young Band, who, along with Lee Brice and Liz Rose, won Song of the Year for the chart-topping, multi-platinum-selling 'Crazy Girl.'

"I have dreamed about this moment my whole life, and I can say for the rest of these guys, they have too," said lead singer Mike Eli from the ACM stage. "For those of you watching on television, if you're sitting here thinking 'I've been dreaming about this moment, I want to be here,' follow your dreams, believe in yourself, do it!"

Also first-time ACM winners, Thompson Square stake claim to ACM Vocal Duo of the Year honors, in an award that was announced Saturday night just after the husband-wife team performed at a pre-show event. Also announced before the broadcast, Video of the Year went to Toby Keith's 'Red Solo Cup,' and Vocal Event of the Year went to Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson for 'Don't You Wanna Stay.' The genre-crossing, chart-topping hit also scored Jason and Kelly Single of the Year trophies.

"When we were in the studio, I brought up the idea that I thought it needed a female vocal on it, and Kelly was the first name I threw out," Jason said after thanking the tune's writers. "I'm really glad I did, because she came in and really made it a great song and took it to a new place."

Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott, Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley are the ACM's Vocal Group of the Year for the fourth year in a row. Scotty McCreery has his first ACM win, taking home the fan-voted Top New Artist trophy.

"First off, I've just gotta say that it's an honor to be [nominated] with Brantley (Gilbert) and Hunter (Hayes). Those guys are incredible artists," said the beaming high school senior. "I've gotta thank my good Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ -- He got me here. Also to country radio ... and to the fans -- you guys are incredible!"

Went to the show, and ALL the winners were deserving of the award(s) they got!! Some choices might have been debatable, but there was ALOT of talent in this years "pool" to choose from.

A mild disappointment was that Kenny Chesney, featuring Grace Potter did not win for "Song of the Year" with "YOU AND TEQUILA".......,donllivi

First off, I admire every single country star for their great music and positive attitude. They are ALL winners!! Still, I have my favorites so Congrats Scotty, Miranda, Blake, and Lady Antebellum. Lastly, ACM needs to recognize country music's biggest star and give Kenny Chesney back he's title for ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR!! After all he is the best !

I do not see Taylor Swift winning that award. Maybe I am old fashioned, but swinging your hair and making like a go go dancer is not country music. Brad Paisley was the best. I also don't know why Vince Gill was not mentioned or on the show. He rates pretty high up there for the most awards and songwriting. I love his music. This years show just wasn't up to par. Hard to define country music in most of those songs.I know Carrie took some time off and has changed her music a bit, but her voice beats anyone that is up there. Her duet with Vince on "How Great thou art" is the most beatiful rendition I have ever heard.

You obviously haven't seen Taylor do some of her country hits like Our Song, which she wrote at fifteen and was number one in 2006, or Mean. All genius creates its own genre, and those stuck in the narrow confines of only part of one are incapable of growth, and naturally left behind. She had nineteen countries at her feet on the Speak Now tour, played to 1,600,000 people live, and is one of the most influentual people on the planet now. Way too big to hurt now, but she loves you anyway.
