"This weekend has been amazing," the singer said during a backstage press conference at the ACM Awards in Las Vegas. "Yesterday (March 31), I was at the Kids Choice Awards, which I've never been there before. The First Lady gave me the Big Help Award for charitable contributions and giving back."
The award was given for the 22-year old superstar's many charitable efforts, including volunteering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and helping tornado and flood victims.
Taylor says she was very nervous about meeting the First Lady. "I'd never met her before, and I'm such a big fan because she's a great role model," said the singer-songwriter. "She was so cool and so nice, and I met her daughters so it was an amazing time. Then I fly to Las Vegas for the ACM awards and this happens, and I'm up there accepting Entertainer of the Year. I'm really happy right now!"

Though she adores her job, Taylor must also be really happy to get a much-deserved break from the road. She has most of the summer off from performing, after wrapping up her globe-trotting, record-breaking Speak Now World Tour.
"I've been proud of the tour. It has provided me with some of the most exciting moments of my life, whether it was a special guest surprise in the audience several nights during the tour, or playing stadiums," she gushes.
But this is the invincible Taylor Swift we're talking about, so don't expect her to lounge around all summer. Whether at work or at play, the entertainer is constantly finding inspiration for new music.
"I'm always looking forward, I'm always looking ahead at what's next," she reports. "So I'm writing my next record right now, as I have been for the last two years. But I'm intensely writing my next record right now. I hope it's good; keep your fingers crossed. I would love it if it's good!"
Taylor credits her fans with helping her have a great year. "I am so amazed that they keep doing such incredibly nice things for me, these giant incredible gestures, like voting for me for Entertainer of the Year. All the things they've done for me just in the last couple weeks, it has been amazing. Add that on top of all the things they've done in the past couple years. I just want to hug them all the time and thank them for everything. It really blows my mind."
