Rascal Flatts 'Changed' Is No. 1 Country Album

Big Machine Records

Rascal Flatts reigns at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart with the just-released Changed. The trio's eighth studio album, and their second for the Big Machine Label Group, sold just shy of 130,000 copies in its first week out, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Lionel Richie, who sold 198,000 of his No. 1 country duets project, Tuskegee, last week, featured the threesome on his disc as well (which drops down a notch with 95,000 copies sold this week), so Rascal Flatts has a claim on the No. 1 and 2 spots this week.

Changed, which debuts at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, becomes Rascal Flatts' seventh consecutive No. 1 country album (their 2000 debut peaked at No. 3), and has certainly benefited from the current Top 10 berth of their latest hit, "Banjo," which Jay DeMarcus, Gary LeVox and Joe Don Rooney performed on the ACM Awards telecast just prior to the disc's release.

"I can't think of a better title for this record than Changed, because it's the perfect way to usher in the next 10 years of Rascal Flatts," Jay explains to The Boot. "When you get to a certain point in your career, it's easy to just phone it in, to get complacent. If you're not careful, you can stop challenging yourself. We all made that commitment to keep pushing ourselves towards excellence, and I believe you can tell that there is marked growth and improvement on this album."

In other chart news this week, Eric Church holds down the top spot on the Country Digital Tracks chart with "Springsteen," switching places with Taylor Swift, who's at No. 4 now with "Eyes Open." Luke Bryan holds at No. 2 for a second week with "Drunk on You." The big story for the week is Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw, whose "Feel Like a Rock Star" bows at No. 3.

Im not the biggest Rascal Flatts fan, until... I saw them in concert last fall. One of the best concerts I have ever seen! And I have seen every country artist in concert. Wish them mega success!
