Last week in Toledo, Ohio, where Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush kicked off the run of dates, fans asked for and received a couple of obscurities. It's a good thing the band rehearsed its entire catalog before hitting the road.
"Staying true to the nature of putting the tour 'In Your Hands,' the show's setlist was determined by YOU, the fans," the group wrote on their website. "And boy did you help clean out the cobwebs! When's the last time we played 'County Line' and 'One Blue Sky?'"
Later in that gig, they spied a girl in the audience holding a sign reading, "Please call my dad when you play 'Baby Girl.'" Since she asked so politely, Sugarland did as the sign said and rang the girl's father, John, from the stage. They also dedicated the song to him.
The next night in Youngstown, Ohio, they played "Fly Away" for a devotee who'd jetted in from Hawaii and pulled a girl named Michelle onstage during "Baby Girl." She'd always wanted to sing onstage -- her sign said as much -- and Sugarland decided to make that dream come true.
"You were fabulous and in case you didn't notice, we even turned up your mic a little!" Jennifer and Kristian wrote to Michelle.
