While high mileage may signify the end of a car's life, it's clear that Kip's single is just starting. It has already sold more than 485,000 copies and is poised to enter the Top 10 on Billboard's Top Country Songs chart next week.
Kip's debut album, Up All Night, comes out April 24. It shares a title with boy band One Direction's debut album, which entered the all-genre Billboard 200 album chart at No. 1 in March, but Kip isn't worried about any confusion. "I didn't know about that," he said of One Direction. "Country fans don't know anything about the boy bands," he laughed.
He also thinks fans still have a lot to learn about him and the depth of Up All Night. "They'll be surprised from the single. It's a very emotional record. I think it's going to really move people. That's what I hope for."
Kip's favorite song on the album is "Crazy One More Time." "It's about running back into someone that you haven't seen in a years and you always had such a strong connection with and you're right back in that place. The bond between you two will always be there."
Right now, Kip is wrapping up some dates with David Nail. Later this summer, he'll hit the road with Dierks Bentley and Tim McGraw.
