2012 Billboard Music Awards Country Finalists

Lady Antebellum lead the country finalists for the 2012 Billboard Music Awards with four nods. They're followed by Blake Shelton and Jason Aldean, who can each be found in three country categories.

In addition, three country acts -- one being Lady A -- find themselves up for all-genre awards. Taylor Swift is up against Bon Jovi, Take That, U2 and Roger Waters in the Top Touring category, while Lady A will duke it out with the Black Eyed Peas, Coldplay, LMFAO and Maroon 5 for Top Duo/Group. Scotty McCreery will face off against Bad Meets Evil, Big Sean, Foster the People and Wiz Khalifa for Top New Artist.

In country rankings, the Top Artist list includes Lady A, Taylor, Jason, Blake and the Zac Brown Band. Lady A's We Own the Night, Jason's My Kinda Party, the Band Perry's self-titled debut, Luke Bryan's Tailgages & Tanlines and Scotty's Clear as Day all made the short list for Top Country Album. Rounding out the genre are Top Country Song prospects "Dirt Road Anthem" from Jason, "Country Girl (Shake it for Me)" by Luke, "Just a Kiss" from Lady A, "Honey Bee" by Blake and the Eli Young Band's "Crazy Girl."

Carrie Underwood is among the performers already announced to perform at the ceremony, along with Justin Bieber, LMFAO and The Wanted.

The 2012 Billboard Music Awards will take place at Las Vegas' MGM Grand and be broadcast live Sunday May 20, 8:00 PM ET on ABC. The winners in each category will reflect Billboard's chart rankings, which include album sales, downloads, radio airplay, touring, streaming and social interaction. I saw Taylor sing her new song with the Civil Wars very well. Normally, I am not a fan of her singing but she really surprised me with her singing. She should sing more songs like that one. I hope they get more performers at this show. The ones so far don't impress me much. Yes I am quoting Shania Twain :)!

Congrats to Lady A!! I cant wait to see Carrie's performance, she is truly amazing!!
Taylor may have made the most money touring, but look at the facts, she had more shows and charged more per general admission seat then U2 and Kenny Chesney, so that fact that she made the most money, doesn't mean she is the best. Also, her fans are mostly tweens, who generally are the target audience for pop singers, most adults aren't in to fairytale princesses.

When it comes to touring Taylor is a slam-dunk. The Speak Now World Tour was the greatest, most cohesive, perfect creation of a tour ever, and the biggest earner as she played to 1,600,000 people in 19 countries with 110 out of 110 venues sold out. The DVD is marvelous. The country catagory is more of a battle since everyone nominated is awesome and some folks are pissed at her for stepping out of genre, which of course is what any genius has to do with their own creative bent. I'd leave that up to the judges.

Great numbers. However, 80% of those concert numbers is from the tween and teen audience who will move on to the next thing. What's next for her?
