Julianne Hough's latest big-screen adventure takes her from "Footloose" to "Rock of Ages," as the singer, dancer and actress takes on the role of Sherrie Christian in the upcoming musical film. Julianne also performs on the Rock of Ages soundtrack, which includes such classics as "Juke Box Hero," "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" and "Any Way You Want It."

The movie, set in the 1980s, is an adaptation of the Broadway musical which tells the story of two young people, Sherrie and Drew (portrayed by Diego Boneta), who fall in love on Hollywood's Sunset Strip to the background of popular rock music of the time. The 20-song soundtrack features versions of '80s rock hits, all performed by the cast.

Julianne throws herself into her part in the film and into the music on the soundtrack. She's featured on a medley of Night Ranger's "Sister Christian," David Lee Roth's "Just Like Paradise," and Poison's "Nothin' but a Good Time," with Diego, Russell Brand and Alec Baldwin.

The singer, who first gained attention as a dancer on the ABC series "Dancing with the Stars," then made country music, joins Diego, Russell and Alex for a medley of Foreigner's "Juke Box Hero" and Joan Jett's "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," and joins Mary J. Blige on Quarterflash's "Harden My Heart."

Tom Cruise, who portrays rock star Stacee Jaxx, performs a few numbers on his own including "Paradise City" and "Pour Some Sugar on Me." Other tunes on the soundtrack include "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," sung by Catherine Zeta-Jones' "I Want to Know What Love Is" with Tom Cruise and Malin Akerman; and "Every Rose Has Its Thorn"" performed by Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Tom Cruise and Mary J. Blige.

"Rock of Ages" hits theaters on June 15 and the soundtrack will be available June 5.

I love rock n roll is an Arrows song, covered very successfully in the USA by Joan Jett.
Please don't mislead people that Joan Jett wrote "I love rock n roll," she did not. It was written by Alan Merrill and Jake Hooker and is published by RAK Music Publishing Ltd. The original version was issued by the Arrows in 1975. Joan Jett covered the Arrows song years later.

I can't believe that morons like Tom "in the closet" Cruise, and Alec "I abuse my daughter" Baldwin are tainting some of my favorite classics. Absolutely disgusting.
