Chris Young Puts Grandma's Handmade Quilts Up for Auction

Chris Young has found a comfortable place in country music in the past few years, piecing his career together with a number of hit songs and albums, side-by-side with sold-out tour dates and other personal appearances. Now, the colorful entertainer is blanketing fans with an opportunity to share a unique piece of his own personal history and to help a great cause at the same time.

In support of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, one of the world's premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other deadly childhood diseases, Chris is offering a one-of-a-kind handmade quilt designed and produced by his grandmother, "Nanny."

May's quilt (pictured here), highlights many of the songs Chris has recorded on the three albums he has released, such as "Voices," "Gettin' You Home" and "Tomorrow." The handmade treasure is available for bidding via the forum on Chris' official website. A new quilt, handmade by "Nanny," will be offered each month with all monies donated to St. Jude.

"I think it's really cool that Nanny has taken up the cause to help raise money for these incredible St. Jude kids who are fighting for their lives," says Chris. "I hope my fans will check out her handmade quilts each month and consider making a bid to help support St. Jude."

Although Chris isn't likely to take up quilting lessons from "Nanny" any time soon, he's keeping his hands busy already, opening shows for Miranda Lambert on the superstar's On Fire tour. The trek hits Omaha, Neb., Kansas City, Mo., and Dallas, Texas, this weekend. Keep track of more upcoming tour dates here.
