Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley Explain Baby Name

Pascal Le Segretain, Getty Images

Actress Katherine Heigl and singer-songwriter Josh Kelley revealed the name of their second adopted child on Wednesday, and today we know more about why they chose to call their baby girl Adalaide Marie Hope Kelley.

"Adalaide because of my great-grandmother, Marie after my middle name, and Hope because that is what the process became," explains Katherine of her newborn daughter.

Adelaide joins her big sister, 3-year-old Naleigh, as the newest addition to the Kelley family. Whereas Naleigh was adopted from South Korea, Adelaide was born in Louisiana -- close to Josh's hometown of Augusta, Ga. See a photo of the whole family in the video player below.

I don't know...I'd like to know why Frank Zappa named his kids "Moon Unit" and "Ommit" (rhymes with "vomit.") There's a 3rd kid, but I can't remember his name. (I think it was a boy, anyway...)

Adalaide is not bizarre, just old fashioned. It was my great great grandmother's name. I might have made it her middle name rather than her first name, but they can always call her Addie or Marie. I see nothing wrong with her honoring her family this way.

Maybe the name is considered bizarre because it's a REAL name and not some made up garbage.

Exactly WHAT is bizarre about their baby's name? I had expected something like Gator Moonsneaker, but Adalaide? Gimme a break!

Sorry but if you have to write a freakin novel explaining the freaky name you give to a kid, maybe it would be a good idea to to give the kid a normal name.

Actually, that name used to be very normal. The issue with it, is that it's considered old fashioned now a days.

What is not normal? That she isn't named the flavor-of-the-month made-up name? Or Maxwell? Or some tortured variation of Caitlin or Brianna or MacKenzie? It's really very nice!!

It's not a "bizarre" name -- it's an old-fashioned name -- odd would be Beyonce's baby's name or Gwynnette Paltrow's daughter Apple--but not Adalaide--

wow... the author of this article needs a serious geography lesson...Augusta, GA and Louisiana are no where close! that's like a 14 hour drive difference!

I was thinking the same thing...lol. You have to drive through 2 states to get to Georgia from Louisiana.
