The clip is a unique take on the song, which Taylor wrote from the perspective of a now well-known fictional character, Katniss Everdeen, of "The Hunger Games."
"Slipping into her mind was such a wonderful break," she told Rolling Stone. "It's pretty intense writing about my own life, my own struggles. It was almost like a vacation to get to write from someone else's perspective."
"Eyes Open" is one of two Taylor songs to appear on "The Hunger Games" soundtrack. "Safe & Sound," which features the Civil Wars, has a melancholy lullaby feel, a stark contrast from its sister song. Other country singers who appear on the movie's soundtrack include Miranda Lambert and the Pistol Annies.
