The "Just Fishin'" singer will serve as a host for the show, which was filmed in Deep Water Cay in the Bahamas and will feature construction crews overcoming several obstacles, including unpredictable weather, while they build a hurricane-proof fishing lodge.
"I love fishing, and I like to work with my hands, I like to build stuff, so I was the perfect choice for the job," Trace explains.
The island is known for its deep-sea fishing, and is a favorite vacation spot for entertainers, thanks to its private location. Actors Liam Neeson and Michael Keaton and famed news broadcaster Tom Brokaw will also appear on the special, which will air Sunday, June 17 (Father's Day) at 8:00 PM ET on the DIY Network.
Trace will continue his Songs & Stories tour over the summer, which has allowed the Louisiana native to give fans a glimpse of the highs and lows in his personal life. "I've had many narrow escapes and blessings in my life," Trace notes. "The right song at the right time has been my saving grace and that's something I have in common with the audience."
