"I was incredibly excited," Sonia recalls to The Boot about when he asked her to join his label. "I believe in anything Zac puts his hands on. He's a good, genuine man."
Zac and Sonia were pals long before they were making a full-time living with music. "We're both from Georgia, and he had a restaurant in Lake Oconee, and I used to play out there," she explains. "We became big fans of each other, and friends. We kind of hit it off. That was before [Zac Brown Band's first hit] 'Chicken Fried.' I was opening up for him. He took me around and asked me to be on his label."
The singer feels incredibly fortunate to have her career in such capable hands. "[I feel] incredibly honored because he's an incredible musician, writer, entrepreneur," Sonia remarks. "He could take over the world, I feel like."
Sonia, who spent the earlier part of the year opening up for both Willie Nelson and Uncle Kracker, has a calendar full of shows booked for the next few months, including several dates with the Zac Brown Band. See her complete tour schedule here.
