Zac Brown Band, 'The Wind' -- Story Behind the Lyrics

Atlantic/ROAR

"'The Wind' is maybe our homage to bluegrass music, but played as a rock and roll band," says Zac Brown Band's Clay Cook of the group's new single. (Listen to the song below.) The uptempo tune showcases ZBB's lightning-fast instrumentation, and beyond the musicianship is a sweet story behind the lyrics. The bandmates co-wrote "The Wind" with Levi Lowrey and Wyatt Durrette, who explains the chorus of the song was inspired by the most important person in his life.

"I was laying in bed and had just woken up, and my son had crawled in bed with me earlier that night," Wyatt recalls. "He was laying next to me; I opened my eyes and there was his face. The chorus, 'where the wind blows,' I wrote it about just looking at him and never feeling a love like that in my entire life."

Watch Wyatt, Zac, Clay and the rest of the Zac Brown Band discuss "The Wind" in the behind-the-scenes video below. "The Wind" is the first single from the group's upcoming album, Uncaged, which hits stores July 10. Pre-order Uncaged here.
