"George saw his doctor today [Thursday, June 21] and the doctor said it was time to hit the road and start singing to his fans," she shared on her Facebook page (quote via Country Weekly). "So, Possum will be seeing you all soon. He is so excited. Once again, we want to thank everyone for your prayers and love shown to us."
His supportive spouse adds that the "He Stopped Loving Her Today" singer hasn't lost his sense of humor. "He said to tell everyone, 'he don't need no rockin' chair,'" she notes, eluding to his Top 40 tune, "I Don't Need Your Rockin' Chair."
The Country Music Hall of Fame member was forced to cancel all of his concerts in May and June, under doctor's orders. While he is anxious to get back to work, George does plan on living a simpler life, which includes selling his 9,700-square foot home that sits on 78 acres in Franklin, Tenn.
